But what string and what tension should I use?

The choice of string and string tension will be personal to each player, each string will have it's own advantages whether it be durability, high tension capacity or extra feel. The most expensive string does not always mean it is the best one for your game, nor does the highest tension. On our stringing product pages each string shows some information to help you with your choice. Each racket restring order offers the choice of available colours, gauge and tension. The general rule is a lower tension for power and a tighter tension for control. Finding the right balance between these can be tricky but when found you will be able to maximise your playing potential. Each racket will come with a recommended 'mid-tension' which you have an option of. Certain strings will respond better to power or control and this information is also provided on our products pages. The gauge can be described as the thickness of a string, the lower the gauge the more 'feel' you will benefit from, the higher the more durability you will experience

When should I restring my racket?

The majority of players will wait until the strings in their racket breaks before even considering a racket restring. Even when a racket's strings may still look and feel fine there is a very high chance the strings will have lost some elasticity and performance, which will be reflected during play if it has been some time since stringing

A good guide to follow is to have your racket restrung in a year the same number of times you play in a week

"I play 4 times per week so will restring my racket(s) every 3 months"

This will ensure that your racket has maintained an equal face tension in order to help the consistency of your game, enables the fresh string to offer you maximum performance and responsiveness in your game, but crucially can help to reduce the risk of injury, especially in the elbow

How can the strings in my racket and my grip help with 'tennis elbow'?

"STRING CHOICE - Natural gut is an absolute saviour for players with tennis elbow. Yes, it is more expensive but the benefits are immense. Natural gut has the ability to absorb harmful shock whilst delivering unmatched power"

"STRING TENSION - Lower your tension. This will allow more of the impact shock to be absorbed and will deliver more power to your shot."

"SOFT GRIP - Use a cushion grip, this will absorb lots of shock"
